The hotels location was great but I’m afraid that is the only plus for us! For a 4 star hotel and the price we paid we expected a much better standard of accommodation. Very out dated, not very clean and in desperate need of new carpets throughout the hotel as very threadbare. Such a shame as it has great potential.

Warmest welcome, superb stay

Stayed for one night and wished we could have stayed longer. We received the warmest welcome from the loveliest reception staff. They were so friendly and welcoming. Our room was 225 and it was just superb. Everything was spotlessly clean, bright and cheerfully decorated. Our bed was super-king sized and exceptionally comfortable, in fact we agreed it was the comfiest hotel bed we’ve had. The linen was fresh and white as were the soft towels in the lovely modern and clean bathroom, which also had luxury toiletries. Every thought was given to anything you could possibly need, even a sewing kit was provided! Our room included a Nespresso coffee machine and soft drinks in the mini fridge which were most welcome. Overall the room was spacious and extremely comfortable and we slept really well. Our breakfast the following morning was well prepared and presented, served hot and with plenty of choice from cooked food to fresh crusty bread and croissants, yogurt, cereals and fruit. Exceptional value and served in a spacious and clean dining room. We would definitely recommend this hotel if you’re in the area. Salisbury is a lovely place and we were made very welcome by the staff at the Mercure. Thank you for a lovely stay. We highly recommend.

So much better than your average chain hotel

My sister and I stayed in a twin room at The White Hart hotel in Salisbury. We both loved this hotel and thought it was very reasonable priced for the quality of the place. We appreciated the adjacent car park and being able to park our car there at a reduced rate. The staff were excellent, the breakfast excellent (really appreciated kippers being on the menu, and my sister loved her personally chosen cooked veggie breakfast which she said was well cooked). A little more choice of fruit - ideally prunes - would have been great but there was melon. My cappuccino from a machine was very good. The hotel is in an older building (probably listed?) and so has a lovely peaceful, spacious, atmosphere and is well decorated. It has no lift and sometimes the floors in the upstairs can be a little uneven so take extra care if you are unsteady on your feet. It is well located in Salisbury near to the cathedral and shops. There is also a nice outside part with greenery. The bedrooms are decorated to a high standard and are very comfortable and clean. The staff were lovely. We weren't sure how to turn our heating off and someone came up within 5 minutes to sort this out. One point, we had difficulty booking a twin room online - only standard doubles seemed to be available so made a phone booking through Accord instead. Would be good if this could be addressed online. All in all we had a great stay at this hotel.

In need of a better door(man!)

My compact double room suffered from a very slow draining shower. This resulted in an unsatisfactory stop start shower! The modest room was furnished with a massive TV that covered half the large mirror. The room was only just massive enough for a short staying single traveller with lots of luggage. Remarkably, the doorman would not open the front door widely so I could easily enter the property, but the receptionist did when I was leaving. They were also very inflexible about an early check in and then proceeded to try to overcharge me for my stay. NB the hotel does not afford a lift.

Good hotel in a great location!

Some of our family stayed in Salisbury over the Easter weekend, what was most striking about our first visit to Salisbury was how friendly and accommodating the local people are. Enhanced still further by the team of the White Hart Hotel where nothing seemed too much trouble! From booking our rooms to the actual stay, none of us could really fault the outstanding service we received. The rooms were of an adequate size and well appointed, we understand the public areas, which are looking a little tired, are due for some renovation shortly. We have no hesitation recommending Salisbury as a great City to visit, and the White Hart Hotel an excellent place to stay!
